Management of security in Transnistria must be immediately reviewed, German Foreign Ministry
{Repeat from January 5}The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany is consternated by the shooting incident that happened at a peacekeeping post in the Transnistrian security zone on January 1. In a press statement, the Ministry says that confidence building measures should be agreed and the security management should be reviewed immediately so as to ensure the free and safe movement of the people via the region, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The German Ministry is convinced that a sustainable solution to the conflict can be identified only within the official discussions in the 5+2 format. “Germany is ready to support this process in continuation,” reads the statement.
The press statement was issued following the tragic incident that occurred at peacekeeping post No. 9 near Vadul lui Voda. An 18-year-old man was wounded fatally from a gun by a Russian peacekeeper. Vadim Pisari was buried in his native village on January 4. An investigation was launched to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
