Man who sexually abused little girl at kindergarten seeks acquittal
The man who was sentenced to ten years in prison for sexually abusing a little girl at a kindergarten in central Chisinau asked to be acquitted. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the man’s lawyer challenged the conviction in the Chisinau Court of Appeals, asking that it be quashed and that his client be acquitted, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Chisinau Court of Appeals rejected the lawyer’s application, arguing it is groundless, and upheld the conviction. The Court’s decision is definitive, but can be appealed to the Supreme Court of Justice.
The 32-year-old man was found guilty of committing violent actions of sexual character. According to the prosecutors, on August 18, 2010, when he was at kindergarten No. 23 in Chisinau, the man entered the children’s bedroom and sexually abused a three-year-old girl. He was arrested the next day. Last November, the criminal case was sent to court for examination. The sentence has been passed this August.
