The man who set off a grenade in Hirova village, Calarasi district, underwent surgery at the Emergency Medicine Institute in Chisinau.

The head of the Emergency Department Vasili Şovgur told IPN that the man is now in the intensive care unit, in an extremely critical condition, as many internal organs have been damaged by the fragmentation grenade’s shrapnel.

The 57-year-old man set off the grenade in his home in a bout of jealousy. Following the explosion four other people have been injured.

Deputy Director of the Călăraşi District Hospital Ion Veveriţă told IPN that other people did not need any internment. The patients were able to go home after being examined.
