Man who raped and killed minor girl in Nisporeni district convicted

The young man who earlier this year raped and killed a minor girl in a wood in Nisporeni district was sentenced to 20 years in jail. The prosecutors consider the punishment is too mild and intend to appeal it. The head of the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office Maria Vieru has told IPN that the prosecutors demand 25 years’ imprisonment on two counts – rape and deliberate murder.

The evidence collected by the Nisporeni Prosecutor’s Office shows that on January 24, when going to the village where her sister lives, a teenage girl was raped by an individual in a wood. The girl threatened the man that she will report the rape to the police and the latter stabbed her mortally. The body was found later the same day. The culprit aged 20 admitted his guilt.

The Nisporeni Prosecutor’s Office asked competent Romanian bodies to perform the genetic medical-legal examination in this case. The DNA test results confirmed that the girl was raped and murdered by the culprit.

The 17-year-old teen was found in the wood situated between the villages Paruceni and Bolduresti of Nisporeni district by persons working there. The girl, who was from Balanesti village, had a knife wound in the neck.
