The young man who last summer killed a cab driver from Chisinau and then set fire to the body in a field in Dubasari was sentenced to 15 years behind bars. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, a sum of over 1 million lei was collected by the successors of the injured party in respect of pecuniary and non-pecuniary damage, IPN reports.

According to prosecutors, in August 2016 the taxi driver was transporting a passenger to a village in Dubasari district. During the travel, the two started to quarrel about the fare that the passenger was to pay.

The 26-year-old man from Orhei killed the driver by hitting him with a metal object and then set fire to the body in a field near Molovata village of Dubasari district.
