The criminal case started against the man who in March damaged the door of the Government Building with a mace was sent to court following the completion of the investigation, IPN reports, quoting the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The prosecutors investigated the man for hooliganism, which carries a fine of at most 52,200 lei or 180 to 240 hours of community service, or up to three years in jail.
The man voluntarily acquitted the damage caused to the state in the amount of 2,444 lei.
The incident happened on March 2, at the entrance to the Government Building from the Great National Assembly Square, during a protest mounted by Nistru war veterans. While the protesters were moving towards the Government Building, the man came out of the crowd and damaged one of the glass doors with a mace. The man didn’t take part in the Nistru war and the veterans who staged the protest refused to assume responsibility for his deed.
