The body of a man aged 70 was found on the roadside near Corten village of Taraclia district in the morning of January 9. Called by locals, the police established that the man died as a result of a hit-and-run accident, IPN.

Press officer of the National Patrolling Inspectorate Sabina Cojusnean said the identity of the man was determined. He was from Baurci village of Ceadir-Lunga district. He allegedly went to visit his relatives in Corten.

The police identified two units of transport that travelled on that road when the accident happened. After questioning the drivers, it was established that the man was struck by a 28-year-old resident of Gaidar, Ceadir-Lunga, who drove a truck. He said he didn’t see the man because of fog.
