A Chisinau man, 40, attempted suicide by gunshot after his affair with a 25-year-old woman turned sour. According to Chisinau Emergency Service accounts, the man came to his girlfriend's home on Miorita Street to make up with her after a fight, but the woman refused him. Unable to bear the thought that their 4-year relationship might end there, the man decided to commit suicide right before her eyes and shot himself in the right temple. Fortunately the bullet didn't touch the brain, leaving the man alive and the woman scared. Another man, 42, being drunk, decided to commit suicide by slashing his abdomen and neck, possibly for the same reason. None of the cuts were too deep to affect major blood vessels. [Drunk female driver arrested over double accident] A 30-year-old woman was arrested by the Traffic Police after, driving a Nissan-Primera under the influence, she struck an elderly pedestrian, fled the scene and hit an obstacle moments later. According to police accounts, the woman was so drunk that she pulled the car off the road on to the sidewalk, where she struck a 78-year-old man, breaking his clavicle. The woman didn't stop to see how the pedestrian was doing and fled the scene. Pursued by a witness driver, the drunk woman panicked and lost her steering again, smashing and obstacle on the curbside, which stopped her. Over the past 24 hours, traffic officers fined 20 persons for speeding, 9 for driving on the red color, and 4 for drunk-driving.
