A man from a village of Cimișlia district will stand trial for killing his wife on June 1. Last October, he was released from jail after he served time for domestic violence, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases, when returning home from work on June 1, the victim’s son found his mother dead in the back of the garden. The 57-year-old woman had multiple head injuries. It was established that the victim’s husband aged 56, being under the influence of alcohol, got into a quarrel with his wife and hit her for at least ten times with a hoe in the head as a result. After seeing that the woman didn’t breathe, he hid the body in the grass and went into the house to change his clothes.
On June 3, the man, who was determined to be sane when he committed the murder, was remanded in custody. He faces 20 years behind bars or life imprisonment.
