A man has been fined 300 thousand lei for trading in influence. He claimed that he had influence over some judges of the SCJ and could induce them to take a favorable decision in a civil case. The decision was handed down by the Chisinau Court, IPN reports.
According to a press release of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, the criminal case was initiated in October 2020 on the basis of two self-reports.
According to the evidence gathered, the defendant, between 2018 and 2019, demanded and received money in the amount of 22 euros from two men.
The criminal prosecution lasted 5 months. The defendant did not admit his guilt and the trial of the case lasted almost 4 years.
In addition to the 22 thousand euro, a cell phone was confiscated from the defendant, which was seized during the search of his home. The phone is to be destroyed after the final judgment.
The sentence can be appealed to the Chisinau Court of Appeal within 15 days.
