A 36-year-old man was pulled over on a street in Balti by traffic police inspectors while he was driving inebriated. The driver, who is from Sângerei, allegedly gave €400 bribe to the police, IPN reports.
According to the police, during the checks, the traffic police officers suspected that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and he was thus tested with a breathalyzer. The result indicated a concentration of 0.22 mg/l of alcohol vapor in the exhaled air.
The driver was repeatedly told that bribery is a crime. However, the man tried to give bribe, leaving €400 in the police car to avoid being penalized in accordance with the law.
The car was taken to a special parking lot. The driver is under criminal investigation for active corruption and also faces penalty for DUI driving and for exceeding the speed limit. He also risks being stripped of the driver’s license.
