A 42-year-old man with the temporary domicile in the municipality of Chisinau is investigated for child pornography. According to the police, as from last September, he had created and managed a false account on social networking sites. Posing as a doctor, he contacted a number of women from socially deprived families who maintained children. On the pretext of offering financial support to these women, he asked and received intimate photos and videos of their children from them, IPN reports.
The police carried out searches at the man’s home. Photos and videos showing children involved in sexual activities were found on the suspect’s phone. There were identified messages by which the man transmitted images to other users.
It was also established that the man obtained images with a sexual content from persons from the CIS, whom he paid by bank transactions.
Steps are being taken to identify all the victims in Moldova and in other countries. The man faces one to three years in jail for child pornography.
In this connection, the General Police Inspectorate repeatedly calls on the citizens to supervise their children when these surf the internet and to talk to them about the importance of security and confidentiality of data online, including the importance of having a responsible behavior so as to avoid risks.
