A man aged 47 died in a house fire in Izvoare village of Falesti district on December 15. The man was found dead in his home. The fire stopped burning itself and the assistance of firefighters wasn’t needed, IPN reports.

According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the fire was most probably caused by a smoldering cigarette. Only the bed linen and several things in one room burned.

The over 1,500 fires that occurred in Moldova so far this year claimed 74 lives.
