A 64-year-old man from Danu village of Glodeni district died in a fire that destroyed an annex in the morning of April 30. Contacted by IPN for details, Sergiu Guşan, head of the Glodeni Rescue and Firefighting Unit, said the call to 112 was made at about 05:05am. When at the scene, the firefighters found the carbonized body of the man.
The man lived together with a grandchild who woke up at about 5am when hearing the sound caused by the flames that reached the roof of the annex. According to preliminary results, the fire was caused by a modeling cigarette. The young man told the police that his grandfather used to smoke inside.
The firefighters and rescuers during 24 hours dealt with over 30 situations of risk.
