Man perishes, five children get poisoned with carbon monoxide and gas during one day

A 59-year-old man died in a house fire in Dumitreni village of Florești district on Monday. Non-compliance with the fire safety rules when using the stove is the preliminarily version formulated by firefighters, IPN reports.

Six people, including five minors, suffered carbon monoxide poisoning after they violated the same rules.

The first case occurred in a house in Trifeștii Noi village of Cahul district. Three children, aged 11, 10 and 6 respectively, got poisoned with carbon monoxide emitted by the stove in the house. The girls were transported to the district hospital for medical care. The condition of the minors is stable and they are now out of any danger.

The second case happened in a house in Chisinau. The mother and two 4-year-old children got poisoned by the gas emanated from a malfunctioning boiler, preliminary investigations show.

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations urges the people to strictly observe the fire safety rules when using heating sources, such as stoves and boilers,.

Two cases of poisoning with products of combustion in which six people, including five minors, suffered were reported so far this year. In the same period last year, four such cases, with seven people involved, including 3 minors, were recorded.
