Man on trial hospitalized after slashing wrists inside courtroom
A prisoner on remand has been hospitalized with multiple razorblade wounds he inflicted on himself in a Chisinau courtroom.
Dr. Anatol Proca of the Chisinau Emergency Service has told Info-Prim Neo that the man was brought to the court to hear his sentence after three years of being held on remand. When the prisoner heard the pronounced judgment, he cut his wrists and abdomen several times. However, doctors say the cuts are not deep and the inmate is not at risk of death. He is now being treated at the Emergency Hospital and properly guarded.
On Wednesday morning, an unnamed woman in her mid-forties was found dead in a home on Mitropolit Dosoftei Street. The occupants of the apartment told the ambulance crew the woman had been drinking heavily the night before. The case is investigated by the police.
On Tuesday and the following night, the Chisinau Emergency Service was called 688 times, responding to 48 cases of acute viral diseases, 53 cases of trauma, 7 vascular accidents and 4 cases of mumps.
