An employee of the Ministry of the Interior was arrested on suspicion of abuse of power and persuasion to make false statements. According to the National Anticorruption Center, the man, being the accused party in a trial, transmitted US$5,000 to the injured party and constrained this to make false statements in his favor, IPN reports.

The man of law was arrested in the courtroom and will be held for 72 hours. A decision as to the remand detention is yet to be taken.

The man of law faces up to six years in jail and a fine of up to 100,000 lei, with ban on holding particular posts or performing particular activities for a period of at most 10 years.
