Man kills wife before children’s eyes

A 37-year-old man from Japca, Floresti beat his wife to death. It happened on the night of March 3 before the eyes of their children – a boy who is in the fourth grade and a girl who goes to kindergarten. The information was confirmed for Info-Prim Neo by Olga Baciu, head of the press office of the Interior Ministry’s Police Department. According to the police, the man and the woman were under the influence of alcohol. Villagers said the man was very jealous and often beat his wife. The woman left him several times, but every time returned to him. Last Saturday, the man went to a neighbor and told her that his wife was sick. She went together with the man and saw that the woman was dead. She called the police. Locals said the woman was covered in blood and her clothes were torn. It is presumed that the man beat her with a spade. The man is under arrest, while the children are at their grandmother. Under the Penal Code of Moldova, domestic violence that leads to death is punished with 5 to 15 years’ imprisonment.
