A 25-year-old man died when the car in which he traveled as a passenger crashed violently into a tree. The driver and another passenger were taken to the hospital in a serious state.

Press officer of the Ungheni Police Inspectorate Cristina Vicol has told IPN that the accident occurred in the Ungheni-Bărboieni road, not far from Costuleni village. The 29-year-old driver lost control of the car and this skidded off the road and ran into a tree. The impact was fatal for one of the passengers. The driver and another passenger aged 27, who is the brother of the young man who died, were rushed to the hospital.

Contacted by IPN for details, director of the Ungheni District Hospital Andrei Alexeev said the men are in intensive care. Their state is serious, but stable. The young men are conscious.

A police investigation is under way.
