Four members of a group of the criminal organization “Machena” were arrested on suspicion that they kidnapped a man and threatened this with death. According to the police, these wanted to take revenge on the man because he testified against the thief in law Machena, who was sentenced to 19 years in jail for blackmailing the victim, IPN reports.

The General Police Inspectorate said the case happened in Rezina in December 2022. The suspects ill-treated the 36-year-old man and threatened him with bodily injuries and with death during two hours, while travelling to Chisinau and in the parking lot where they arrived.

Until recently, the man had been held in jail and the suspects now profited from his release to take revenge.

The man ran away from the car and informed the police. The four men aged between 23 and 41 were arrested on Tuesday following searches. Prosecutors intend to ask the court to order to remand them in custody for 30 days.
