Man in intensive care with flu perished

The man diagnosed with pneumonia caused by the AH1N1 virus, who was admitted to the intensive care section of the Municipal Clinical Hospital No.1 in Chisinau over two weeks ago,  has died.  This is the fifth victim caused by the flu in Moldova so far this year.

The Hospital’s medical vice director Ion Artenii has told IPN that the 36-year-old man was hospitalized on February 4, being diagnosed with viral-bacterial pneumonia with severe development caused by the flu. The man received treatment at home during four days and then went to see a doctor. But the intensive treatment could not save him either.

Ion Artenii said it is very important to see a doctor immediately after the first symptoms of acute respiratory infections appear as sometimes these do not develop swiftly and cause complications. The symptoms include fever, hacking cough, weakness and muscle pain.

According to the National Public Health Center, the number of cases of flu exceeded 150. Specialists recommend avoiding closed crowded places and contact with sick people, using masks, washing the hands, airing the rooms and seeing a doctor when the first symptoms of disease appear.
