The Hancesti Court sentenced a 40-year-old man to ten years and eight months in jail for transporting drugs, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases, in the summer of 2015, the members of the group that includes the convict, being on the territory of Spain, purchased over 70 kg of hashish and organized the illegal transportation of the drugs to Moldova, from where these were to reach the Russian Federation

The persons involved in the transportation of drugs were arrested after they crossed the border, near the border crossing point “Sculeni”. The sentence can be challenged in the Chisinau Appeals Court. Two more persons are tried in this case and the sentences against them are yet to be passed.
