A man aged 29 from Fălești district was sentenced to ten years in jail for raping his minor stepdaughter, IPN reports, with reference to the General Prosecutor’s Office.

The case happened in the autumn of 2018, when the man hit and sexually abused his nine-year-old stepdaughter. The girl’s mother was working in the night shift and the victim and her younger brother were in the father’s care.

The truth came out in several days, when the girl told the head teacher about what happened. The teacher informed the police and the aggressor was arrested.

When being questioned by prosecutors, the man admitted his guilt. He had lived in concubinage with the mother of the nine-year-old girl for six years and was earlier tried for domestic violence.

The sentence can be challenged in the Appeals Court.
