A 31-year-old man from Nisporeni was sentenced to six years and five months in jail for domestic violence. The judgment was passed by the Ungheni Court, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in April 2018 the culprit, who returned home in the morning, woke up his concubine with whom he was in hostile relations and started to punch and kick her until this fainted. After he splashed her with water and the woman regained consciousness, he continued to beat her.
The woman asked the man to call an ambulance, but this refused. The neighbors ultimately called an ambulance and the woman was hospitalized in a serious state.
The two had lived together for four years and had two minors children. The man was earlier tried for similar acts and for non-observance of the domestic violence restraining order.
The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
