A man from Edineț was sentenced to five years in prison for domestic violence and hooliganism. According to the Prosecutor's Office, the defendant last December assaulted his concubine and her former cohabitant, threatening to kill his own child, IPN reports.
The man, being under the influence of alcohol, caused a violent conflict in the courtyard of a building in Edineț. He assaulted his concubine, a 26-year-old woman, and her ex-partner. In the middle of the altercation, the man took the one-year-old child and left. When the woman caught up with him, holding her second, newborn child in her arms, the defendant took out a knife and pointed it at the child's neck, threatening to kill him.
In the end, the woman managed to take her child back, but she was assaulted and pushed along with the two minors. Her ex-partner was also attacked, hit and had his ear bitten.
The Edineț Court found the 34-year-old defendant guilty and sentenced him to five years in prison. The sentence is not final and can be appealed to the Nord Court of Appeals.
