A resident of Donduseni town was sentenced to 25 years in jail on four counts, IPN reports, quoting the Prosecutor General’s Office.

In February 2016, the culprit raped and strangled his female neighbor with whom he drank alcoholic drinks while on a visit to her. The woman was 59. When he saw that the woman was dead, he stole about 85,000 lei from her home and then tried to set the house on fire, but was seen by neighbors.

The 34-year-old culprit was convicted of intentional murder, violent actions of a sexual character, rape and attempt to destroy property. The man was also obliged to pay 609,000 lei damages to the woman’s successor.

The sentence is not yet definitive.
