A man from Vulcănești town was sentenced to 22 years in jail on four counts – kidnapping, deliberate murder, illegal crossing of the state border and aggravated hooliganism, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the culprit, together with four accomplices, cruelly beat a man with whom they drank alcoholic beverages in a house in Vulcănești town in April 2015. Later, the abusers put the victim in the trunk of a car and took him outside the town where they set fire to him even if he was still alive. The next day they gathered the carbonized remains and threw them into a well on a field.
Immediately after the crime, the culprit fled the country and was put on the wanted list. Last summer, he was arrested in Ukraine and extradited to Moldova.
The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
The other four accomplices were arrested and tried immediately after the crime. They got 22, 23 and 24 years behind bars and life, respectively.
