Man gets 21 years for killing business partner

A businessman from Vulcanesti, who shot dead his business partner in the autumn of 2013, was sentenced to 21 years in jail. The Taraclia Prosecutor’s Office announced they will challenge the sentence because they consider it is too mild, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the collected evidence showed that in the evening of October 31, 2013, the culprit, together with the victim, travelled to a field near Carbali village of Vulcanesti district, where the latter was to convince himself that there was a sunflower field for which he invested 440,000 lei. The men started to quarrel and the offender fired at the victim from a gun held illegally and then hit him with an iron bar. To hide the crime, the man tied the body with a cable and buried it in the field, throwing the victim’s mobile phones on the Cahul – Taraclia road.

In several days of the disappearance, the victim’s wife went to the police. The man’s car was discovered in Taraclia town. The body was found several days later. The victim was 31.

The 26-year-old culprit was arrested in November 2013 and brought to justice.
