A 38-year-old man from Nisporeni was sentenced to 13 years in jail for domestic violence. He beat his mother to death as a result of a conflict, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, being inebriated, the man got into a conflict with his mother. The squabble degenerated into beating and he hit his mother in the head for several times. The woman died as a result of her injuries.

The Ungheni Court sentenced him to 13 years behind bars. The man was in custody until the sentence was passed.

The sentence is not final and can be challenged in the Chisinau Appeals Court within 15 days.
