A man aged over 50 years was sentenced to 11 years in prison for sexually exploiting two teenage girls. One of the girls, who was mentally retarded, became pregnant, while the other girl was already pregnant when she was sexually exploited, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases, the man, who worked as a seller at a market in Chisinau, proposed to the girls to clean the kiosk where he worked, for a remuneration of 20-50 lei per day. The girls were from outside the capital city and both were slightly over 16 years old.

Shortly after hiring them, the seller offered them to have sex for money and gave them 100 lei each. Then he found other clients, in rented apartments, hotels, saunas. For a meeting with clients, he paid the girls 100-200 lei each.

As the sexual intercourse was not protected in all cases, in addition to becoming pregnant (and later having an abortion), the teenager with disabilities also contracted AIDS and died later. When she got ill, her mother found out about the fact that her daughter was providing sexual services. The woman denounced the trader to the authorities and this was placed in preventive detention in 2019.

The man was also accused of the sexual exploitation of other young women. The judicial proceedings go on.
