An inhabitant of Soroca district was sentenced to 15 years in jail for setting his pregnant partner on fire, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the Soroca Prosecutor’s Office, in November 2016 the man, being under the influence of alcohol, had a quarrel with the victim on jealousy-related grounds. As a result of the conflict, the man splashed gasoline on the woman and set fire to her. Consequently, the 20-year-old woman lost the fetus.
The culprit aged 24 got 15 years for murder attempt. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
