A man took revenge on his former partner and her new partner, beating her callously with a cudgel and killing the man. The woman went into a coma and is now under intensive care. The case happened in Milesti village of Nisporeni district in the evening of February 18.

Prosecutor of Nisporeni Petru Botnaru has told IPN that the suspect and the victim lived together, but at a certain moment the woman decided to leave the man and to move to live with a relative of theirs. Yesterday evening, the suspect went to the home of the woman’s new partner and beat them both with a cudgel. The neighbors tried to take the injured man to the hospital with a cart, but he died on the way. The woman was transported to the Nisporeni District Hospital by an ambulance.

Contacted by IPN, the head of the Hospital’s Intensive Care Section Valeriu Bilhac said the 57-year-old woman is in a coma. She suffered a severe traumatic brain injury.

The suspect, who was under the influence of alcohol, was arrested shortly afterward. On him, the police found a suicide note, saying that the man intended to kill himself.

If he is found guilty of intentionally causing bodily injuries that resulted in death, the suspect, who is 55, will serve 12 to 15 years in jail.
