A 43-year-old man from Costești village of Ialoveni district got stuck under the debris when a garage collapsed. He was half covered by mud and sand and was trapped under a reinforced concrete slab, IPN reports.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said the man suffered multiple traumas. Using special equipment, rescuers lifted the slab and took the man out. He had arm and leg fractures and a head injury and was rushed to the hospital by an ambulance.
Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the Ialoveni Police Inspectorate Mariana Didenco said the police established that the man worked occasionally in the yard. He was digging near a construction when a wall of this structure fell over him. Legal action was taken to determine all the circumstances of the incident.
A similar case occurred in northern Moldova several days ago. A slab of concrete fell over a man aged 42 when he was disassembling an old construction on the territory of an abandoned cattle farm in Burlănești village of Edineț district. He had his thorax pieced by a sharp metallic object. Rescuers took him out and handed him over to an ambulance team in a conscious state.
