Man found burned was killed by prison mate

The man who was found dead in the wooded area on the outskirts of Chisinau on September 13 was killed and burned by a former jail mate. According to the head of the General Police Commissariat's press office Adrian Jovmir, the suspect is 35 and is a resident of Bacioi village of Chisinau municipality. He was earlier tried for hooliganism, Info-Prim Neo reports. The killed man is also from Bacioi and was served time for hooliganism. The two met in prison, where they became friends. The suspect told the police he and his friend drank alcohol and then set off for Chisinau from Bacioi. They hitched a ride. On the way, they started to quarrel. The driver stopped the car and told them to get out. The men continued the quarrel outside. The suspect hit his friend several times and killed him. He then took a ride back to Bacioi. Later, he returned to the crime scene, splashed gasoline on the body and set it on fire. The next day, he bought a train ticket and left Moldova. He was caught in Kaluga town, 200 kilometers from Moscow. He faces 12 to 20 years behind bars on intentional murder charges.
