Man drowns, woman dies in fire

A 58-year-old man drowned in a lake near Gavanoasa village of Cahul district. Frogmen of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service took the body out.
The Service's spokeswoman Dorina Cruc has told Info-Prim Neo that the circumstances in which the man died have not been yet established. The police in Cahul are investigating the case.
A burning candle caused a fire in a house in Delacau village, Anenii-Noi. After extinguishing the fire, the firefighters found the body of the house owner - a 66-year-old woman.
The 1,654 fires that happened in Moldova so far this year resulted in 136 deaths. Three of the victims were children.
