A baby girl aged one month and a half was taken to the hospital after being found alone on the roadside in Corjeuți village of Briceni district. The child’s mother told the police that she left the child in the care of acquaintances for a period. According to doctors of the Briceni District Hospital, the child’s state of health is satisfactory.

Contacted by IPN, press officer of the Briceni Police Inspectorate Dina Fomin said the police were alerted at midnight by a man who passed by and saw the baby.

The police identified the child’s mother shortly afterward. This is a girl aged 17 from Edineț district. When being questioned by the police, the young mother said she left temporarily the child in the care of acquaintances of hers and didn’t know that the baby girl was left unsupervised.

Eleonora Țurcan, medical assistant at the pediatric section of the Briceni District Hospital where the child is now, has told IPN that the girl is fine. The mother also came to the hospital and stays there together with her daughter.

Legal action over leaving in danger was taken in this case. Those to blame face community service or up to two years in jail.
