Man dies one day after vaccinated against COVID-19. Health Ministry’s reaction

A man aged 70 from Horjești village of Hâncești district died one day after he was vaccinated against COVID-19 with an Astra-Zeneca vaccine. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection said the autopsy showed the man died from acute myocardial infarction and had older cicatrices and there is no causal relationship between the vaccine and the death, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry, the person was invited to be vaccinated after the local health workers had been immunized and a number of doses remained available. The man was vaccinated with an Astra-Zeneca dose on March 16. No side effects were witnessed during 15 minutes after immunization and during the next 24 hours. The man had arterial hypertension and regularly took hypertensive preparations.

The next day at about 10pm, the man’s relatives called an ambulance and the ambulance doctors recorded heartache and pronounced dyspnea. He was diagnosed with an acute coronary syndrome. He died on the way to the hospital. During the autopsy, it was determined that the mam suffered from cardiac insufficiency and died from acute myocardial infarction.

The Committee for the Assessment of Post-Immunization Adverse Events hasn’t received any information about post-immunization adverse events in the case of the man who died. A vial of AstraZeneca vaccine contains ten doses of vaccine. The other nine persons who were vaccinated from the same vial didn’t report side effects.
