Man dies in hospital after car crash
A man, 28, has died in the intensive care section of the Emergency Hospital, several hours after he ran into a power pillar on Alba Iulia Street in Chisinau on May 10.
According to Chisinau Road Security Service Inspector Ion Roscovanu, the road accident occurred at 1.15. Valeriu Trofim was driving a Daewoo-Matiz on Alba Iulia Street exceeding the legal speed limit. He lost control of the vehicle and ran into a power pillar. The driver was hospitalised with extremely serious traumas, and the doctors were not able to save his life. At around 17.00, the young man died.
On the same day, at 22.00, on Cantemir Street in Truseni village, a Honda scooter capsized because the driver, 33, applied a sudden brake and lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the man suffered fracture of the knee.
Ion Roscovanu calls on all the owners of motor scooters to compulsorily register their vehicles in case the volume of the engine exceeds 50 cubic centimetres, otherwise they might be harshly sanctioned.
22 road accidents occurred in Chisinau over the past 24 hours, as a result of which one person was injured. The road inspectors filed 470 official reports, including 14 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
