A 26-year-old man from Fălești died after falling from height at a building site in Chisinau’s Ciocana district. Preliminary investigations showed the worker wasn’t using safety harnesses despite working at the 14th floor of the building under construction, IPN learned from a Chisinau police spokesperson.

The police have started an inquiry and its results will be submitted to the district prosecutors, who will decide whether the incident had any criminal aspects.

The Labor Inspectorate issued a press release requesting construction companies to make sure that workplace health and safety standards are rigorously observed on construction sites, or else face civil, disciplinary, administrative and criminal action.
