Man dies after choking on nut
A 36-year old man, Chisinau resident, choked to death on a nut.
According to Chisinau Emergency Doctor Coordinator Eufalia Negreata, the casualty happened on Inculet Street, at 12.00 pm. The man choked on a nut he was eating. On arrival of the ambulance doctors the man was dead. Doctor Negreata says such cases have become more frequent lately. To prevent a person die from choking, a helper should get behind the choking person and give a certain kind of quick squeeze just under the person's ribcage. This squeeze sends a quick, powerful burst of air from the person's lungs upward, dislodging the problem food or object and often sending it flying out of the person's mouth.
According to the same source, a cigarette smoked in bed by a 45-year old inebriated man ended in a fire, in which the man, residing on Tudor Vladimirescu street, received third- and fourth-degree burns to arms and legs.
A 17-year old minor was taken to hospital after being stabbed in the leg by his own father. Police are handling the case.
