A man was struck by a vehicle on the R6 Chisinau - Orhei route, not far from Magdacești village of Criuleni district, when he was crossing the street illegally on Monday evening, IPN reports.

The General Police Inspectorate said that the accident occurred at around 09:00 p.m. Following the impact, the man died on the spot. The car was driven by a 25-year-old man. The breathalyzer showed that the driver was not intoxicated.

He was transported to the hospital for being offered medical care.

The police are taking measures to establish the identity of the pedestrian.

A criminal case was initiated on the case.
