Man Dead of Electrocution While Shaking Walnuts
A man died of electrocution while he was trying to shake walnuts with a metal bar which touched the electric cables.
According to the Department of Communication within the Union Fenosa (UF) Company, the tragedy took place on September 21, around 18.00, in the village of Copceag, Taraclia.
The pensioner Manolov Stepan, aged 65, was up in a walnut tree situated between two pillars. While he was shaking the walnuts using a metal bar approximately 2 meters long, he touched one of the electric conductors under tension, being electrocuted to death.
Another electrocution case took place on September 7, in the town of Codru, part of the Chisinau municipality. A teenager, aged 16, died while trying to steal non-ferrous metals from an electric installation.
UF warned about the major risks borne by any unauthorized intervention on the electric networks.
