A 35-year-old man from Balti, who was wanted nationally and internationally for theft and was detained in the Russian Federation, was extradited by air and handed over to Moldovan law enforcement authorities, IPN reports.

The General Police Inspectorate said that in 2019, by agreement with other people, the man stole a bag containing €40,000. During the investigation, the police gathered evidence of the commission of the crime and in 2021 the man was sentenced to eight years in prison, IPN reports.

The man’s detention was possible thanks to the actions taken by officers of the Criminal Investigation Division of the National Investigation Inspectorate, the Inspectorate noted.
