The Buiucani Court sentenced a 37-year-old man to five years in jail and banned him from performing activities related to the management of tangible assets for a period of two years for committing five scams, IPN reports.

According to prosecutors, the culprit in 2012 - 2019, by cheating and abusing trust, misled the victims, telling them that he purchases cars by order from abroad and imports them into Moldova and making them transfer advances for the wanted vehicles. He then appropriated the money and didn’t fulfill his promises. He cheated the victims out of a total of €16,100.

The culprit is on remand detention. The court ordered that he should return the money to the victims.

The sentence is not yet definitive and can be appealed in the Chisinau Appeals Court within 15 days.
