The police arrested a man aged 34 from Chisinau, who was selling a sawed-off hunter’s gun. When requested by the police, he could not show a document authorizing him to keep and bear a firearm, IPN reports.
According to the Chisinau Police Division, the man was escorted to the inspectorate for questioning. He admitted that he held the gun illegally and wanted to sell it for €150. The police ordered making a ballistic analysis to see if the gun hadn’t been used to commit offenses. Its origin is also to be determined.
The man faces a fine of 6,000 to 12,000 lei, 180 to 240 hours of community service or up to three years in jail for illegally bearing, keeping and selling a firearm.
The Chisinau Police Division reminds that those who voluntarily yield up firearms or ammunitions held illegally are not punished criminally.
