A man aged 59 was arrested on suspicion of murder and murder attempt. He attacked his wife and mother-in-law with an ax and knife. His mother-in-law died as a result of her injuries, IPN reports.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, it happened in Drăsliceni village of Criuleni district last night. The police were notified by the suspect’s wife who said that her husband hit her in the head with an ax as a result of a conflict.

It was determined that after hitting his wife, the man hit his mother-in-law with the ax and then stabbed her for several times. The 80-year-old woman died on the spot.

Afterward, the man left home, but was shortly found and detained. He faces murder and murder attempt charges.
