The police arrested a man aged 37 from Chisinau municipality on suspicion of blackmail. His former girlfriend complained to the police that the man threatened to post discrediting photos and videos with her, of an intimate and erotic character, on the Internet if she does not give him US$1,000, IPN reports.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, the man was arrested recently in Chisinau. Later the police carried out searches at his home and found pictures and videos that discredit the victim. The man admitted his guilt when being questioned.

The suspect faces three to five years in jail for blackmail and a fine of 37,500 to 47,500 lei. He is investigated outside remand.
