Man arrested for asking €13,000 bribe
A Balti man was arrested by the North division of the Anticorruption Center on suspicion of having asked a €13,000 bribe in an influence peddling case.
According to the Center, the man claimed he could influence police officers, prosecutors or judges to provide special treatment to a person charged with robbery.
At the moment of the arrest, the man had on him €8,000 in bills marked “CCCEC bribe”. According to the informer, the man received earlier an amount of €5,000.
The suspect is held at the Balti Police Commissariat, having been charged with influence peddling. He faces a fine of 500 to 1,500 conventional units or imprisonment terms of 3 to 7 years.
