A man from Chisinau was arrested by anticorruption officers because he promised to influence police employees to drop charges in a case of theft. He asked €5,000 from the denouncer for influencing the decision, IPN reports.

According to the National Anticorruption Center, criminal proceedings were instituted against the man for influence peddling based on the denouncement.

A sum of €3,000 was passed on under supervision of officers of the National Anticorruption Center and the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. The man was arrested and remanded in custody the same day.

The investigation goes on to identify other persons involved in this case.
