Man and woman get poisoned with carbon monoxide
Two persons died from carbon monoxide poisoning in their own homes on January 21.
Dorina Cruc, the head of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service's press office, told Info-Prim Neo that both of the persons were elderly. A woman aged 84 was killed in a house fire in Criva village of Briceni district. It is presumed that the bedclothes caught fire from a candle.
A 77-year-old man got poisoned with carbon monoxide in his house in Marinici village of Nisporeni district. Allegedly, the carbon monoxide was emitted by the faulty stove.
Five fires happened in Moldova on Thursday, January 21. The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service calls on the population not to overheat the stoves and check them regularly. As the roads are covered with snow, the firefighters will come with delay and a possible fire could destroy the house fully until help arrives.
The 99 fires that occurred in the country this year claimed 21 lives.
